Appendix C: The Text of ‘Titus Andronicus’

Share Button

The most authoritative text of Titus Andronicus is the 1594 Quarto.  I believe it best reflects the author’s original intentions.

For comparison, here’s how the play appeared in the First Folio of 1623.

For a modern-spelling version of the play, the most useful and user-friendly site I’ve found is the Open Source Shakespeare.

Sh:in:E – Shakespeare in Europe, from the University of Basel in Switzerland, has a goldmine of articles and information on the works of Shakespeare.  Here’s their page for Titus Andronicus.

Click on any of these links, to open the text in a new browser window, so that you can switch easily between Shakespeare and the Howards and the play.
